This fanfare celebrates a rare astronomical event that occurs once in a generation. A binary star system in the northern crown constellation, usually too dim to be seen, is locked in a cycle where, every 80 years, it lights up in an exploding nova and becomes visible to the naked eye. Nicknamed the "Blaze Star," as of the writing of this fanfare, it has not gone nova yet, but astronomers are waiting in anticipation for this once-in-a-lifetime event to unfold.

Instrumentation: 3 trumpets in Bb, 4 horns in F, 3 trombones (3rd is bass), 1 euphonium (optional, cued in other parts if not available), 1 Tuba, Timpani, Crash Cymbals, Bass Drum

   Duration: 2'30"
